What it’s like to be a New Jersey Asshole
I remember how interesting it was back when I visited Florida! It was different! I did meet a few people from New Jersey down there, but it was not common. When I mentioned I was from NJ, the look of terror on people’s faces was noticeable. COMPLETE TERROR. I kid you not.
While the security guard at Disney World was checking my bag he joked, “New Jersey? Oh man I’d better check your bag twice!” I actually thought it was hilarious! Yes, we are pretty rough around the edges here. My foul language is generally more odd that your average person’s profanity, but most of us swear up here a lot. It’s a shock to me that people in other places don’t.
The joke of the week at our hotel in Florida seemed to be how we didn’t need security because we’d end up beating the crap out of any robbers and taking THEIR shit. HAHA! That was a fun week.
I have to admit, I have punched my fair share of deserving detractors. (WTF Did I just come up with a corporate euphemism for “assholes that deserved a whuppin’”. I think I did wtf.)
This is why I like to try and travel as much as I can. I realize now how different other places are and I understand why sometimes the things I write may seem odd or alien to people who have not lived here. Our way of life here is a mercenary, supercharged, super fast way. I have culture shock when I leave New Jersey!
I also love New York, but I don’t quite care for having to get rid of my car if I were to move there. It’s impossibly expensive to keep a car in NYC no one I know who lives there has one. The danger is that you become tied to NYC and it ends up being a terrarium from which you never venture out from under. I don’t want a terrarium!
It is my hope to not live here for the rest of my life. I want to try and experience more things and meet more people from different places. For now I take comfort in the fact that many of you are reading from the other side of the globe! I have been lucky enough to meet some of you and learn about what life is like for you where you live.
Where I live is cool, but I do have a mighty attraction to Florida…it was the first place I ever visited that I really, really did not want to leave…
