Digital Howler Monkeys

The internet disgusts me sometimes. In this corner we have memes insulting skinny women. In that corner we have memes insulting fat women. In the other corner we have people who need to make disparaging statements every time someone famous dies just to prove to everyone else how alternative they are. Feast away! Not caring! The new fashion statement!

Who gives a crap if you like the persons work or not. It’s about respecting the person’s family and friends. Famous people are human beings, too.

Oh, but we like it when people fall. We like to point fingers. It is much easier than doing something positive in our own lives. That’s really what it’s all about today. It makes us feel better, doesn’t it?

It’s pathetic. We may as well not pretend that we are a polite society. How you are on the Internet is how you really are. People in general don’t in reality really care that much about other humans. That’s why reality shows featuring metaphorical train wrecks are the most popular.

I am actually genuinely surprised when I see any sort of kindness these days. No shit.

Everyone seems to think they are smarter or better than everyone else. None of us are really that damn different. That is the truth.

In the meantime I can only suggest we come together to hate on something we can all agree upon that’s a good idea to boycott: the over-commercialization and regurgitation of things that were bad in the first place.

I just gave a bag of lemon tea to my desk mate because he said he was tired and needed a pick-me-up.

Good things happen! Nice people can be nice!

    Hugs.

  2. I have been the recipient of various kindnesses over the years, but the nastiness on the intertubes, in media, and (big surprise here) in politics somehow seems so much LOUDER than kindness.

On the other hand there is a reason why I am not going to go see SW-1:TPM 3reDEE… as they say in brooklyn, “Nigga,
    PLEEEEZZZEEE….”

I am of the belief that the internet has both the most wonderful people you will ever find and the scummiest, cruelest jerks you will ever find. The trick is to focus all your power on the good one… which is why I am very selective when following people on Twitter. Only the good ones!

Yeah I think that the curse of having a lot of information is that bad things can seem louder because they generate more talk.

  3. Mayo says:

    That. is. hilarious.

(err – the comic, not the post)
