Comic 148 : Some Annoyances Aren't So Bad (Together) (link to this comic)   Comic RSS Feed

Annoyances, Halved

I’m not gonna lie. I had a pretty tough few weeks. It’s like I have to constantly balance a billion things.

My geek convention, Intervention, is going to happen this August so I’m busy planning that. This means I’m handling all Social Media, Pres Outreach, critical decisions, worrying about budgets and delivering awesome. Oh and also I’m doing outreach to all Corporate Sponsors, which is a full time job unto itself.

Then there’s the fact that I’m in between jobs again and I am constantly interviewing at random places. (Check out my LinkedIn here if you can help.) 9 times out of 10 I find that there wasn’t even an actual job because the company decided to pull the budget–but it sure as heck takes a lot of time and stress to interview for jobs that end up not existing. Then there’s general production time for the comics, marketing time for the comics, and then there’s my blog where we are gearing up for Haunt Season where I will again be going through hundreds of Haunted Attractions in just a handful of weeks.

During all of this, I am working on my first actual book of my early comics and I have at least 2 others in the works as soon as I finish this one. I can’t tell you a release date yet because I refuse to until I know I can meet it. Give me a few weeks and I’ll have that. This book is going to be WAY fancy with special edition drawings and lots of text talking about the comics, my evolution as an artist, and life experiences that altered how I think and what I draw. It’s pretty freaking awesome. Imagine a giant scrapbook of all of my early work that’s been brought full circle with my perspective today.

It’s a lot of work.

Meanwhile, my Mom who raised me is suffering from senile dementia and can’t remember who I am. A friend of mine is having a very serious health problem, too. And there’s some other stuff that is equally depressing.

I had basically a situation last week where I cried so hard and so long that I actually injured myself. Harknell woke up at 3AM to this and stayed with me for like an hour or two until I stopped crying. He deserves ALLLL the credit for being super kick ass when it comes to backing me up.

We went this past weekend to Ocean City, MD to check out some Vintage Haunted Houses. I will be blogging and podcasting about them in the next day. Did I mention that The OnezumiVerse Podcast is out of beta and that you should check it out and subscribe? Harknell joins me on there to talk about our favorite Horror Movies, Dark Rides, Haunted Attractions, Movies, and Geek Stuff.

But I digress. The point is that it was rainy this past weekend but it doesn’t f’n matter because Harknell and I can do anything together. :)
